Gene Carlisle has been a film & commercial advertising writer, director, circus clown, fashion photographer and full-time dreamer all of his adult life. He grew up in middle-class suburbia, then spent his teenage years bumming around Rome & London, working in film production for both major studios and no-budget independents. Returning to the US, he switched direction by joining Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, producing clowning and trapeze for touring shows. Back in LA, he apprenticed at the hands of famed celebrity and rock & roll photographers Norman Seeff and Vera Anderson, which eventually led him to Oregon, and commercial television advertising. Gene has written, produced, directed, and edited hundreds of broadcast commercials for brands that include UPS, Asante, Kodak, Providence, PRS, Chevy, and dozens more.
